The following weld types are suitable for metal bellows assemblies when the correct weld geometry is applied. The following information pertains to metal bellows only.
Laser Welding (LBW)
Cost effective method of assembling thin wall components without filler metal. Minimizes heat affected zone with less fatigue debit to component.
Electron Beam Welding (EBW)
Performed in a vacuum atmosphere for high purity welds. Ideal for dissimilar metals and products that require vacuum to be sealed within the finished part.
Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (TIG)
Commonly replaced by EBW or LBW due to the required weld geometry and larger heat affected zone. TIG remains a reliable practical method of welding parts to a metal bellows.
